Success means committment:
Most organizations—commercial as well as non-profit—do
not begin easily. Lots of struggles, financial
challenges, personality conflicts. And on it goes. But
if you’re tenacious, determined, and committed, you
just might possibly succeed.
We incorporated New Possibilities Center as an Oregon
non-profit religious and charitable organization in
1993. The active part of the work began during the
summer of that year in Newport, Oregon. It all fell
into place, actually. Not a lot of struggle. Doors
opening rather easily, and on a regular basis. Several
people asked us to hold services in their homes while
we waited for the right space to show itself.
Ultimately, the ministry moved to Portland. The right
space showed itself there. Within a year, we had a
commercial space, and then six months later, we moved
into a wonderful set of rooms in a marvelous older
building just east of the Willamette River and
downtown Portland. The space contained a large, airy,
and light sanctuary that could easily seat 100. There
was an attached, private office, and a separate
hospitality room. Coffee is a must after service, you
know! And, of course, plenty of parking. We were
blessed, indeed.
In 1998, our direction changed. We were called to do
more of a travelling ministry, to add music, and then
workshops and seminars, first for churches and
non-profits, then for corporate and educational
organizations. All the work was—and is—from a New
Thought perspective. We continued to be blessed.
Today, we continue the journey. More doors are
opening. We choose the ones that need us most, the
ones where we can be of most service.
Thank you, Spirit.
